The above link says an acoustic neuroma is a brain tumor. That is a colloquialism and is not technically accurate. An acoustic neuroma is really a cranial nerve tumor arising from the acoustic nerve. But because they are inside the skull, and they are adjacent to the brain, sometimes even impinging upon the brain, people just go ahead and call them brain tumors.
